Kung nababasa mo ang notes pero blanko ka sa tanong, active recall ang missing piece. Train retrieval before exam day.
Recognition is not the same as recall
Kapag binabasa mo ulit ang notes, familiar ang terms kaya feeling mo alam mo na. Pero sa board exam, kailangan mong i-retrieve ang concept without seeing the exact reviewer page.
Active recall forces the brain to answer first before checking notes. That struggle is the training.
- Close the notes before answering.
- Write or say the answer in your own words.
- Check only after you commit to an answer.
Turn every topic into questions
For each topic, create simple prompts. Example: Instead of rereading warrantless arrest, ask: 'Ano ang valid instances ng warrantless arrest?'
For Criminalistics, ask process-based questions. For Law Enforcement, ask comparison questions. For Correctional Administration, ask purpose and system questions.
- Definition questions for core terms.
- Comparison questions for confusing concepts.
- Application questions for board-style situations.
Use missed answers as your review list
Hindi failure ang wrong answer. It is a diagnostic signal. Mark missed concepts and revisit them after 24 hours, then again after several days.
This creates spaced repetition without needing a complicated system. The subjects that hurt your score get more attention automatically.
- Tag missed concepts by subject.
- Review the rationale, not just the correct letter.
- Retry the question later without looking at the answer.
